DETAIL TREK ITINERARY

 

Pre-Climb Day — Airport Pick-up - Lodge/Hotel

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where a Parakuyo Tours & Safaris representative welcomes you and transfers you to your lodge in Arusha.

Your head guide conducts a full climb briefing, checks your gear, and answers all questions.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

 

Day 1: Machame Gate (1,800 m | 5,905 ft) - Machame Camp (3,010 m | 9,875 ft)

  • Hiking Time: 5–7 hours
  • Distance: 11 km | 7 miles
  • Habitat: Rainforest

Begin registration at Machame Gate, then hike through lush rainforest filled with birdlife, colobus monkeys, and towering ancient trees.

Arrive at Machame Camp late afternoon. Dinner + overnight.

 

Day 2: Machame Camp (3,010 m | 9,875 ft) - Shira Camp (3,845 m | 12,615 ft)

  • Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
  • Distance: 5 km | 3 miles
  • Habitat: Moorland / High Plateau

The trail climbs steadily through moorland to volcanic ridges and sweeping views.

Enter the expansive Shira Plateau — a dramatic high-altitude landscape.

Overnight at Shira Camp.

 

 Trek Kili 3

Day 3: Shira Camp (3,845 m | 12,615 ft) - Lava Tower (4,630 m | 15,190 ft) - Barranco Camp (3,960 m | 12,992 ft)

  • Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
  • Distance: 10 km | 6 miles
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

A key acclimatization day.

Climb to Lava Tower (lunch stop), reaching 4,630 m | 15,190 ft before descending into the Barranco Valley — one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic areas.

Dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp.

 

 

 

Day 4: Barranco Camp (3,960 m | 12,992 ft) - Karanga Camp (3,995 m | 13,106 ft)

  • Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
  • Distance: 6 km | 4 miles
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Begin with the famous Barranco Wall — a fun, non-technical scramble with spectacular views.

Follow a series of ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp.

Important acclimatization night.

 

Day 5: Karanga Camp (3,995 m | 13,106 ft) - Barafu Camp (4,673 m | 15,331 ft)

  • Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
  • Distance: 4 km | 2.5 miles
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Short but steep ascent to Barafu — your base for the summit attempt.

Arrive early, rest, hydrate, prepare gear.

Summit push begins after midnight.

 

 

Kili Summit 2

Day 6: Barafu (4,673 m | 15,331 ft) - Uhuru Peak (5,895 m | 19,341 ft) - Mweka Camp (3,100 m | 10,170 ft)

  • Hiking Time: 10–14 hours total
  • Distance: 17 km | 10 miles
  • Habitats: Arctic (summit) → Forest (descent)

Begin at midnight. A steady climb on volcanic scree leads to Stella Point at sunrise — magical.

Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point.

After photos, descend to Barafu for lunch, then continue to Mweka Camp for overnight.

 

Day 7: Mweka Camp (3,100 m | 10,170 ft) - Mweka Gate (1,640 m | 5,380 ft) - Hotel

  • Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
  • Distance: 10 km | 6 miles
  • Habitat: Forest

 

Descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate.

Collect your official Uhuru Peak certificate and meet your driver.

Return to your lodge for a well-deserved hot shower and relaxing  

Overnight at Lodge (2nd post-climb night).
